Oman-based OCTAL has emerged as the largest PET sheet producer and integrated packaging company in the world. Operating from the Salalah Free Zone, the company has successfully harnessed its strategic location with access to East-West shipping lanes and favorable trading regulations coupled with its unique-to-the-world manufacturing capabilities to meet the breadth and depth of customer demand. 

Manufacturing PET resin and the first and only direct-to-sheet polyester sheet in the world, DPET, the company's state-of-the-art plant was purposely designed and built to yield superior quality products with waste and cost reduction benefits, increased productivity for thermoformers and unmatched environmental advantages. OCTAL's expansion to its existing facilities has added 600,000 tons per annum of PET bottle grade resin.

Delegate Profile

William Joseph Barenberg Jr. has overall responsibilities for operation of OCTAL and the formulation and execution of its strategic initiatives. He has 15 years of experience in manufacturing, marketing and general management.  With a career foundation in turnkey construction and engineering and marketing of commodity and specialty products, he has an extensive background in industrial business-to-business relationships and in marketing to the consumer via retail channel partners. 

He began his career as project manager with Black & Veatch, a leading architectural and engineering consulting firm. Subsequently, he joined International Paper (IP), assuming various roles in the packaging and papers businesses involving product management, manufacturing and marketing, culminating in his most recent role as general manager of IP's photo media business. 

He is an engineering graduate of Kansas State University and holds an MBA from Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
