Company Profile
Port Services Corporation SAOG (PSC) formed as an autonomous company by a Royal Decree in November 1976 to Manage and Operate Port Sultan Qaboos (PSQ) under a long term concession Agreement with Government of Oman. It is a publicly listed company with paid up share capital of about USD 25 Million and Government of Oman shareholding of 35.49%
PSQ as the premier port of the Sultanate of Oman was built in 1974 as a multi purpose port and has been handling all imports and exports of the Country since then. Currently, the Government of Oman is having plans to transform PSQ into Oman’s primary waterfront destination, with a strong sense of ‘local Omani identity’.
The transformation of PSQ into a tourism based mixed use waterfront will enable the Sultanate of Oman to work towards its objective of diversifying the economy, whilst at the same time integrating with and enhancing the existing surrounding historical area of Muttrah. Such a waterfront destination will bring a vibrant, active and high quality public realm to both Muscat and Oman.
The proposed mixed use waterfront harbor will have a dedicated semi-private, high end yacht marina with accompanying facilities. It will also feature up to three high quality international hotels along with a large banquet facility. A public leisure park with outstanding views over the waterfront will be formed. A number of other parks and open spaces will feature throughout the redevelopment. The proposed plan will also feature a Home cruise terminal, Waterfront Mall Maritime Museum /Boutique Hotel Aquarium and Leisure Centre.
PSC is looking for investors and partners and developers who can join as strategic partners in the new venture.
Presently, PSQ has 13 berths out of which 8 are commercial and others are used by Coast Guard, Royal Navy, Royal Yacht and Fast ferries. PSQ receives all kinds of vessels viz. Container, RORO, Break Bulk, Cruise liners etc. During 2012 a total number of 1,361 vessels called PSQ and 2,644 vessels called at PSQ anchorage. PSQ receives around 130 cruise vessel calls per year and it is growing.
