Company Profile
The South Al-Batinah Logistics Hub (SBLH) is a government driven initiative to facilitate private sector warehousing and logistics development within the Southern Al-Batinah region of The Sultanate of Oman. It is also part of a strategy to transform the transportation and logistics activities into a dynamic sector that contributes to the economy of the country. The planned hub will establish the framework for a systematic and sustainable development that continues to support economic growth while providing job opportunities to the society. Furthermore, the on-going and committed industrial, transportation, ports, airports and railway projects in Al-Batinah corroborate the government’s emphasis to promote this region as an important economic hub with international exposure. As a result of this, South Al-Batinah was identified as the central location for distribution of goods at national as well as GCC region level. A total area of approximately 9k hectares is reserved for the development, of which 2.5k hectares are currently planned for dedicated state-of-the-art logistics activities.
The project will be implemented in phases. Phase 1 is expected to be operational in 2014. This phase will include a dry port, container terminal, truck depot, offices, living quarters, and warehouses. The objectives of this phase are to address increases in warehousing requirements; and to facilitate warehouse relocation from other areas and support the transformation of The Port of Sultan Qaboos (PSQ) into a tourism port. The detailed design for this phase will be tendered out soon. Upon the completion of the detailed design, a tendering strategy will be put in place for construction, commissioning and operations. The remaining phases will be implemented over a period of 30 years and conceptual studies are currently on going to maximize their value and come up with an optimal timeline.
Potential Investments:
