Oman Business Road Show to the United States
His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Oman’s Minister of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), led a high-level trade & investment mission to the United States on October 23 – 31, 2013. The Road Show delegation consisted of over 40 business and government leaders, including Oman’s Ambassador to the United States, Her Excellency Hunaina Al-Mughairy, and the U.S. Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, the Honorable Greta C. Holtz.
The delegation visited three cities: Houston, Texas (October 23 – 24); Chicago, Illinois (October 25 – 28); New York City (October 29 – 31). The focus of the Road Show was marketing the Sultanate of Oman as a trade and investment destination, emphasizing that nation’s key geo-strategic location, infrastructure, and incentives, as well as the benefits of the U.S. – Oman Free Trade Agreement. High priority sectors that were targeted included transportation, healthcare, tourism, and manufacturing (construction equipment and food processing). |

In each city, the National U.S. – Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) and its partners organized events that served to enhance Americans’ understanding of business opportunities in Oman through commercial briefings, business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking, sessions with government officials, and face time with U.S. media. Commercial leads generated by the Free Trade Agreement were the centerpiece of the visit, but the Road Show also presented unique opportunities to build people-to-people relationships that bolster longstanding ties of friendship between the Sultanate of Oman and the United States. These ties extend back to the 1833 Treaty of Amity and Commerce, America’s first treaty of its kind in the Arab world. |
